SULLY SPORTS AWAY

The game was played in attrocious conditions with a howling win d off the seas driving the torrential rain. Ferndale playing into the wind, took an early lead following a burst from centre Josh Kinson. The ball was quickly spun left from the ensuing ruck for Thomad Davies to easily round his man to score half way out. Chris Cutters added an excellent conversion considering the conditions.Sully hit back shortly after following some poor defending by Ferndale, when a high kick was dropped an an attempted backpass was hacked on for a try under the posts which was converted to tie the scores at 7-7. The Dale were quick to respond and should have taken the lead but twice knocked the ball on in the act of scoring. Sully came back and following some good driving play by their forwards, were awarded a penalty which was duly converted to give the home side a 10-7 lead. Shortly after prop Nathan English was forced to leave the field with a foot injury to be replaced by Lloys Price. a front row reshuffle was needed with Price going to hooker and capatain Robert Crudge moving to prop. Despite some more attacking play by both sides the half time score remained at 10-7.
Ferndale turned around with the wind at their backs and were soon pressing. Following a  penalty Ferndale were up to the Sully 10 mertre line. A  number of forward drives were initially
held up but Ferndale the moved the ball away and from some great handling, Chris Cutter cut back inside to score wide out. cutters then converted his own try with a superb kick to give the Dale a 14-10 lead. The Ferndale pack started to now get on top and following some good forward drives, Lloyd Price dived over in the corner to score an unconverted try, to extend the lead to 19-10. Ferndale made a number of changes and continued to hammer away at the Sully line. From a 5 metre defending lineout, Jack Bevan stole the ball and just as a try looked certain the ball was dropped. From the resulting home scrum, the Ferndale pack drove the Sully pack off the ball for No. 8 Alex Kennedy to crash over and score the bonus point try. Cutters again converted to give a final result of 10-26 to the Dale
